“TWO GUNS” PRESS PREVIEW

Here’s another round of the bromance-type of action thriller, as if we’ve not gotten enough for this season.

It is crimson shoot-shoot, bang-bang all the way.

Plus loads of guffaws.

There’s little to dish out or rave about, as the mood and tone of  the movie are predictably cliched and formulaic.

Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington play supercool undercover lawmen in this dense thriller.

You can say the film has it all –  guns, drugs, jokes, funny scenes, vehicle chase in the desert, restaurant getting blown up, bank heist, cops, CIA, Naval Intelligence. Like every other buddy film.

It is not difficult to figure how the ending is going to be, right from the start, that the good will surely triumph over the bad and that heroes die hard.

So what else is not “yawn”?

Anyway, let’s deal with the plot.

“2 GUNS” features the suave Bobby Trench (Washington) and big-talker Marcus “Stig” Stigman (Wahlberg) as an undercover DEA agent and naval intelligence officer, respectively.

Neither man knows that they are both after drug kingpin Papi Greco (Edward James Olmos).

Whatever squabbling and antagonism in the beginning soon blossom into a full-blown friendship.

Bobby and Stig derive a plan to rob a small-town bank, assuming they’ll both hook key evidence against Greco and also put their assumed criminal partner behind bars.

They expect to uncover $3 million drug dollars, and instead walk away with $40 million CIA dollars.

Some parts are funny, silly and compelling, but hey, it is not like you have never seen these before.

It is one of those regulars cop-and-robber yarns.

This one is only for fans of Wahlberg and Washington.
